My New Year’s Resolution is…

I don’t do resolutions normally but this year I’ve decided to adopt one that I heard from a man who fell thirty foot and is now in a wheelchair. He said that he doesn’t think he’s unlucky but lucky to be alive as such a fall should have killed him. He treasures every day and is happy to be alive.

So in future I’m going to be grateful to have my son, daughter in law and grandson close, to have my brother and his family and my niece and great nieces in my life, and to have a circle of wonderful, loving friends. I am also lucky to be a bestselling writer with Boldwood and to be able to do my dream job so late in my life.

I’m not going to dwell on my long covid, the loss of my husband, the fact that my daughter and her family are no longer in my life – their choice, not mine – and endeavour to be content and grateful for what I’ve got and not what I haven’t.
