Happy birthday to Boldwood
Posted on 1st August, 2025
My publisher Boldwood is six years old today – what an amazing six years it’s been. They now have over two hundred writers, have sold over thirty-nine million books, and have won every award available this year.
I joined just after my beloved husband Dusty died – they approached me and I thought a change of direction would give me something to focus on in the awful few months after I became a widow. Therefore, although I signed in I think March 2021, my first book didn’t come out with them until February 2022. I still had one more book to write for Aria, HoZ. I was the seventy-first writer to sign with them and this was the best decision I’ve ever made as far as business is concerned.
I’m one of the oldest but I believe there is at least one other writer a few years ahead of me. They hold a fabulous annual summer party at the Bishop’s Palace in Fulham – I doubt I’ll go to another one as it’s too much of a hassle for me now. When I looked around at the over two hundred people gathered there there wasn’t a single grumpy face – people might moan a bit sometimes but Boldwood always sort out the problems.
They are signing up big names nowadays so I’m glad I got in when I did as I doubt they would have headhunted me now. I’m doing amazingly well – have now sold translation rights to Serbia and Spain and my readership continues to build. I’m fortunate to have Emily Ruston – the best editor at Boldwood in my opinion – and with her encouragement, support and expertise my writing and career have really taken off.
I wish this had happened ten years earlier as then I would have ten years longer to enjoy being a bestselling writer for the best publisher around.
Until next month
