Going to Hell in a Hand Cart!

Posted on 2nd July, 2025

It’s possible that some of you have never heard of the expression “going to hell in a hand cart”. It’s an English expression that means things are going bad very quickly and nobody seems to be doing anything to stop it. That’s exactly how I feel about the world at present.
Global warming – fires, floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, unbearable temperatures are becoming commonplace. I fear it’s too late to turn the clock back and that’s a lowering thought. I do what I can but it needs more from governments for anything to stop this inevitable decline.
Wars – Ukraine is still fighting for survival and that’s unconscionable in the twenty-first century. It’s time Europe stepped up their support so Putin can be stopped. America under the fascist leadership of Trump isn’t going to do anything to help as he is in Putin’s pocket.
In Israel the government is committing genocide, ethnic cleansing of the worst kind and no one with any influence appears to be stopping this.
Now Trump has illegally bombed Iran and again those that could do something about this catastrophic illegal action have failed to even comment.
What’s happening in America is so appalling I can scarcely understand how the fascist government controlled by oligarchs has managed to take total control so easily. The Beautiful Big Bill, all thousand pages of it, has been passed in the dead of night. Those that could have stopped it – it would only have taken one Republican to vote against and it would have been stopped- didn’t have the courage to do so. Now Trump can legally not hold elections, ignore the courts, destroy Medicaid, seize and deport immigrants who have done absolutely nothing wrong and incarcerate them in concentration camps. So-called Christians are applauding this inhumanity and democracy in the US will no longer exist by the end of the year.
My son is a wise man and told me that there’s no point in worrying about things you cannot change. He tells me not to watch the news, but concentrate on the good things in my life, the small world I live in and not the global one. I do what I can – I donate to charities every month – live what I hope is a good life. I’m not sure that’s enough any more.
Until next time
