Meta has stolen my books!
Posted on 2nd April, 2025
I’ve posted a few months ago about AI and that I didn’t think it was something writers have to worry about. I still think that the creative capabilities of AI are not going to be a problem. However, Meta has stolen my books – all one hundred and thirty of them – and use them to train their AI system. They have also stolen all the works of all my writer friends and not one of us has had any compensation for this theft.
There’s a class action being brought in America but so far nothing in the UK. The Society of authors is organising various protests but as far as I know very few writers or people have signed up to go to the physical protest. I shall certainly be posting things about this theft tomorrow which is the day of the protest.
Car manufacturers stole billions of pounds from consumers by illegally inflating the interest rate – they are now being called to account everybody who had this illegal interest added when they bought a car or get it back at some point.
PPI – a similar kind of scam and millions of us had that illegal interest refunded.
I think this will hopefully be the same kind of scandal and the government will listen to the protests, to our valid criticism about the illegal use of our work, and that eventually we will become compensated.
These are the books Boldwood have, all of them have been stolen.
Please make your voice heard. Speak out for compensation for those who have had their work stolen.
