Will AI ruin book sales?

The talk amongst writers is all about AI. What are your feeling about this?

I think it’s not going to be a problem for us despite those four men saying they’re going to flood 8000 books onto the market all written by AI. Readers aren’t stupid, they won’t buy rubbish and that’s what it will be. AI is amazing but it’s not creative. My only real concern is that these men will stela my content and then get AI to change it a bit and then put it up as original. I’m relying on my excellent publishers, Boldwood, to take care of that, I write books. I don’t market or sell them, that’s there job and very well they do it too.

The danger , I think, is from deep fake videos and fake news on social media. It’s terrifying how easy it is now for scammers, dishonest politicians and so on the produce something that looks 100% genuine. For those  in the public eye it must be far more worrying than for writers. Careers and lives can be destroyed by this sort of thing. Mud sticks, and even if the person is vindicated those that read or saw the fake media will remember that.
