Happy New Year

Posted on 1st January, 2023

2022 has gone and I think like most of us I’m glad to see the back of it. The UK is in chaos. Our wonderful NHS is collapsing, working people are having to strike because they can’t afford to put food on the table, we have a corrupt and useless government and no prospect of an election to change this until next year. The ineptitude of the Conservatives under Liz Truss caused our economy to collapse and has left millions of people in debt and unable to pay their mortgages or rent. The war in Ukraine is appalling and my heart goes out to those living there. The knock-on effect from this war has caused energy prices to rocket and I can’t see that improving until Putin is removed from office and the Russians are forced withdraw. The rest of the world has suffered because of these external pressures but the UK is in a far worse position because of Brexit. Covid is still with us but I think if you’re vaccinated and boosted you might catch it not become seriously ill.

That’s the gloom and depressing part of the year mentioned and now to the good part as far as I’m concerned. I’ve had four books published by the fabulous Boldwood and all of them have been bestsellers. Joining them was the best decision I’ve ever made career wise and I signed a second eight book contract a few weeks ago even though I’ve still got two more books to write on the first one more.  The seven books that I had published with Aria – Head of Zeus have also done well this year despite the fact that I’ve had no new books out with them since October 2 021. I no longer write Regency romances as that market is flooded and I make far more writing World War II books for Boldwood. I expect the eighty or so indie published books will continue to make me money but that is an avenue of income I’m no longer pursuing.

I love my life now despite the fact that my beloved husband died two years ago, despite the fact that my daughter and grandchildren emigrated to America five years ago and I’ve not seen or spoken to them since – indeed I don’t know where any of them live and have absolutely no contact. I still have a loving  extended family and my son and daughter-in-law and grandson close by as well as wonderful friends and excellent neighbours. I love my bungalow, can’t wait to have my landscaped garden finished, and see what this New Year has in store for me.

Thank you for supporting me and for enjoying my books. I wish you everything you want for yourselves in this coming year.

Best wishes
